Melvin Nolet, vice-chairman of the Eindhoven Students Sport Federation (ESSF), thinks fewer students have entered the race this year because of the exam week taking place at the same time. The relay race, which usually attracts around 7,500 competitors, starts at the University Sports Center in Nijmegen. The route is via Germany, the Achterhoek region in the east of the Netherlands and the Oude Markt in Enschede to the campus of the University of Twente. The total distance is more than 185 kilometers, divided into 25 stages (17 for men and 8 for women). Up to 330 teams from all over the country are allowed to take part, and that number has already been reached. If you’d like to join in, please apply to ESSF.
