Exhibition about interactive light art

25 september 2008 - On Saturday 27 September Center Kunstlicht in de Kunst will open the exhibition Re-ACT about interactive light art. Visitors can among other things see a kaleidoscope which interactively exposes abuses in the world. It was made by artist and TU/e staff member Rolf van Gelder and his partner Carmin Karasic. There is more to be done, though: there is also a punching bag in the hall. Anyone who hits it with boxing gloves makes LED lamps light up. The harder the punches, the more intensive the light. The five hundred tennis ball-sized LED lamps that have been suspended from the ceiling for ‘Swarm’, invite you to a dance. When you move below them, groups of lamps follow you with different colors, like a flock of birds. The work of art entitled ‘Wall of Fame’ is intended to make people think. You walk across a red carpet and seem to be surrounded by hundreds of paparazzi. Flash lights are blinking all the time. First they come from behind, which is rather fun. Later the flashes come from the sides and from in front and then it becomes annoying. The unpredictability plays tricks on you. Is it over now? No, here comes another flash! Het Centrum Kunstlicht in de Kunst is located at Emmasingel in Eindhoven.
