Moon festival at TU/e

25 september 2008 - The Chinese students at the TU/e are going to celebrate the Middle Autumn Festival, or Moon festival, on Saturday 27th of September. There will be various performances, like operas, dancing, singing and kung fu and a lot of interesting games played all in Chinese. This festival is very important in the Chinese tradition. For thousands of years the Chinese people have related the vicissitudes of life to changes of the moon as it waxes and wanes; joy and sorrow, parting and reunion. Because the full moon is round and symbolizes reunion, the Mid-Autumn Festival is also known as the festival of reunion. All family members try to get together on this special day. Those who cannot return home watch the bright moonlight and feel deep longing for their loved ones. The celebration will start around 13.00 hours and end around 17.00 hours in the TU/e Auditorium canteen.
