Holst lecture by Japanese LED expert

19 november 2008 - LED expert prof. dr. Shuji Nakamura from the University of California in Santa Barbara will present the 32nd Holst lecture at the TU/e on Thursday 20 November.Nakamura (1954) was trained as an electrical engineer and in 1992 he developed the first clear blue ‘light emitting diode’ (LED). Hereby the Japanese expert gave a first impetus to the advance of LEDs in the world.This year the Holst lecture will be preceded by a minisymposium featuring four speakers, on the subject of the applications of light in the fields of energy, health, art and design.The Holst lecture will begin at 16.00 hours in the Blauwe Zaal of the Auditorium. Admission is free, but registra-tion is obligatory and can be done via www.holstmemoriallecture.nl.
