The meeting was an initiative of Humanistic Student Counseling and Kinjin, the Japanese culture association for Eindhoven students. After an opening speech by university secretary Harry Roumen -who is an honorary member of Kinjin- Rodrigues de Miranda showed how by using a single flower and some leaves or branches from nature you can create a genuine work of art. All of this being in accordance with the traditional Japanese rules, of course: attention to scalene triangles, the water level in the vase (higher in summer than in winter) and the direction of the light.
Last year ikebana expert Rodrigues de Miranda was also present at TU/e by invitation of Kinjin. This year the culture association has also taken the initiative to organize a lecture on Confucianism (16 April) as well as two Reiki workshops (7 and 14 May) in the Meditation Center. |
