19 maart 2009 - On Friday March 20 the Cross-linx festival will be held at various locations in Eindhoven. It is described as a pas de deux between pop and classical music. This year’s theme will be film(ic) music. The locations are Muziekcentrum Frits Philips (one of the organizers), de Effenaar and Markt. The line-up consists of Michael Nyman, Zita Swoon, Jacob Ter Veldhuis: TVBOX1, Air Sensible and Music Mining. One of the drawers is the Antwerp band Zita Swoon. This band brings wayward but scintillating songs. The Belgians have experience with film music and feature among the credits of the film Sunrise. Apart from the music center there will be a special mini-cinema in Markt square in Eindhoven. There percussionist Arnold Marinissen, Leonard Lowe and Blake e/e/e will all in their own particular idiom provide accompanying music for film images. As will You Echo, from Bouwkunde-alumnus Frans van Gastel. He has just finished his film ‘The Hills’. A ‘despondent musical narrative picture’ supported by four of his own compositions, two of which were composed in collaboration with the Chinese singer-songwriter Zhuoling Wu.
