Iranian students indict the Netherlands

23 april 2009 - After a prolonged threat the Actiegroep Iranian students have now indicted the State, reports the ANP. The group does not accept that academics of Iranian descent are barred from subjects or research locations where they can gather nuclear knowledge. This arrangement is in conflict with Article 1 of the Constitution, according to the Iranian students. The action group is supported by the KNAW. The science organization calls the resolution that was adopted early this year unacceptable and warned Minister Plasterk that the reputation of the Netherlands is at stake. However, the Minister did not see any reason yet to reverse the law. “There is not one Iranian student who has registered for programs that involve working with nuclear knowledge”, Plasterk said in September.
