New common room intended to foster integration

4 februari 2010 - This spring a common room will be fitted out in De Bunker where both international and Dutch students and staff members can meet. The Education and Student Service Center (STU) has decided on this together with the Accommodation and the Personnel and Organization departments. This initiative was occasioned by the awareness that international students and staff members need a place where they can meet. Especially international students, including the inhabitants of the space boxes, seek each other out, but so far a special place to do so had been lacking. STU emphasizes that the Dutch TU/e population is also welcome in the common room, of course. De Bunker was decided on because it already houses various cultural associations as well as the international associations BEST and AEGEE. This makes it easier to organize activities. A space of 75 square meters will be fitted out as a big living room with some kitchen facilities. Expectations are that the common room will be opened in April. (SK)
