This week’s photographer: Ivo Creusen (25), PhD candidate with the SPS-VCA group of the Department of Electrical Engineering

When taken?
During the 25-hour train journey from Xining to Lhasa, Tibet. This is the highest railroad in the world, it runs for almost 2000 km and it reaches altitudes of over 5000 m.

What do we see?
The breathtaking scenery as seen from the moving train. I was quite surprised to see that even in such harsh conditions there are still quite some wild animals like yaks to be seen, although unfortunately this photo does not have any in it.

Why taken?
On the train there is no better way to spend your time than by looking outside and taking photos. Any sort of physical activity will quickly tire you out because the air only contains 56 percent of oxygen compared to sea level. (HB)
