I Wonder how...

This week in I wonder how: Fausto Gomez Agis, a postdoc with the Department of Electrical Engineering, wonders what can be found within the building Kennispoort in the TU/e grounds. Fausto: “It is a big building at the outskirts of the TU/e grounds, so there are bound to be important things going on there, although I have absolutely no idea what they may be.” Cursor undertook an investigative trip.

The building Kennispoort and the organizations it accommodates give society in general and the business community in particular an easy entrance to TU/e. In turn, the Kennispoort serves for TU/e as a window to the outside world.

In the Kennispoort building you find various organizations that are mainly engaged in activities on the interface of science and the business community. One of those organizations is United Brains, which has been set up to untangle and make accessible the maze of knowledge institutions to small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs). SMEs can turn to United Brains for answers to technological questions. United Brains then looks for the right partner from whom to obtain the correct answer.

The Kennispoort accommodates nine organizations altogether, the Brabant Chamber of Commerce being the biggest of them all (COC). The COC makes out a case for the economic position and strength of the region and engages in countless activities for entrepreneurs. One of the statutory tasks of the COC is keeping the Registry of Corporations up-to-date. (HB)
