Speaker’s Corner - the new Cursor

Not satisfied with the course of affairs within your program? Disagree with the contents of an article in this paper? Or full of praise about something or someone? This is the place where you can voice your opinion, no matter about what! Since this is the first issue, we have approached people ourselves, asking them: what do you think of the refurbished Cursor? And does it meet your need for information?

The five respondents are quite pleased with the English summaries placed with most of the articles. “It’s one of the steps to integrate international students. That’s very important!”, says Marcela Gómez Medina. She also thinks that the layout and legibility have been improved. Prable Sekhri is pleased that he could read the item about the arrival of a bicycle repairman on campus, as his bike has broken down.

They all underline that they regret that not more texts have been translated into English. Prable Sekhri refers to the interviews on pages 10 and 11, about ‘the first time’. “The photos clearly show that these people are talking about their personal experience, which I think would be very interesting to read.” Amanuel Kihshen would prefer to see everything translated in full, among other things ‘because I can learn Dutch then.’ Jie Fu would like to have two or three pages reserved for the international community, instead of one. And the one that is available now is hard to find.

Good suggestions for new sections are coming in as well. The editors of this page will take them into consideration. (SK)
