Na dik 3,5 jaar wordt de online community ‘TU/e meeting place’ gesloten. De laatste tijd was er nauwelijks nog activiteit op de online ontmoetingsplek voor internationale medewerkers en studenten.
Volgens Willem van Hoorn, adviseur Internationalisering bij Dienst Personeel en Organisatie en de beheerder van de site, voorzag de website aanvankelijk in een behoefte. “Toen was er nog weinig op dat gebied en werd er van alles gedeeld, maar inmiddels zitten internationale medewerkers en studenten al volop op Facebook en Linkedin en ook de community van HUB Eindhoven for expats is populair. Het landschap is vol en het is mooi geweest zo.”
De website www.tuemeetingplace.nl stopt in april definitief, voor die tijd kunnen bezoekers nog foto’s of documenten eraf halen. (JvG)
TU/e meeting place website calls it a day
After more than 3.5 years, the online community ‘TU/e meeting place’ will be shut down. The website for international faculty and students has hardly seen any online activity recently. According to Willem van Hoorn, Advisor of Internationalization at DPO and the site’s webmaster, the website used to meet certain needs. “Back then, there weren’t all that many alternatives so a lot was shared. Today, international faculty and students are found on Facebook and LinkedIn mostly, and the HUB Eindhoven community for expats is rather popular as well. The web’s saturated, we had a good run.” www.tuemeetingplace.nl will go down in April, but until then users can still download pictures and/or documents from the site.
