1000-job plan will boost foreign population TU/e
5 maart 2009 - TU/e’s plan to create 1000 temporary jobs to keep highly-educated ‘knowledge’ workers in the Eindhoven region, should also boost the university’s foreign population. “If the plan is given the go-ahead by the Dutch government, TU/e could possibly expect to hire at least two hundred extra foreign staff in the coming years”, says spokesman for the Executive Board Peter van Dam. The current international population is about 990 (MSc., PDEng. and PhD students, post-docs and regular faculty).

Japanese spring opened with ikebana demonstration
5 maart 2009 - Liesbeth Rodrigues de Miranda gave a demonstration of ikebana, the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement, in the Meditation Center in De Hal on Tuesday 3 March. By preparing seven flower arrangements she opened the Japanese spring for a select audience that was captivated by her art. During the demonstration, the viewers attending were treated to a modest Japanese meal consisting of rice, egg and sausages.

TU/e developing broad Bachelor program in English
5 maart 2009 - TU/e is developing plans for an Engineering College that will offer a broad engineering science Bachelor program in English. According to Executive Board spokesman Peter van Dam, the target group will be the children of highly-educated foreign personnel in the region’s high-tech industry, or ‘knowledge workers’. Other students who have completed an English-language high school education and interested Dutch students will also be welcome. An annual intake of some 150 to 200 students is projected for the three-year program.
