New introductory day for international staff members received well

An introductory day for international TU/e staff members. That sounds like a good opportunity to get to know your colleagues and your employer better. Yet there were several things that could be improved, as the Personnel and Organization Department (DPO) gathered from the reactions of participants. Some of these points have already been carried through into the new way in which the introductory day has been offered since the end of 2007. For instance, a workshop has been added to the program. Which is to the full satisfaction of participants, says a survey held by DPO among the first group of 27 international staff members.

Last week Cursor reported that the TU/e is busy introducing an extra procedure to screen Iran candidate students. Although according to emeritus professor of Nuclear physics techniques prof. dr. Martien de Voigt this knowledge cannot be obtained here, the TU/e has nevertheless decided to adopt the measure with regard to UN-resolution 1737. This resolution states that no nuclear technology may end up in Iran that could help the country develop nuclear weapons.

The discussion at the universities of technology about screening and excluding Iranian students is totally insignificant in Tilburg, according to a report by Tilburg University (UvT). This week it was with a certain degree of pride that the UvT presented Farinaz Aryanfar (23) as its new campus poetess.
