Building bridges with Lego bricks
20 maart 2008 - Two bridges buckled under the weight, but eight bridges were strong enough. Last Friday 14 March student association CHEOPS from Architecture, Building and Planning held a contest in Vertigo in the construction of Lego bridges.

Altogether 38 first-year students competed with each other - in groups of three or four – to build the most beautiful and most solid bridge. Joost van Dun, Joep Rutgers, Wieger Meijer and Wilbert de Koning won the beauty prize with their round and slim construction. The creation by Ruben Peeters, Roy van Hengten, Jordi Laarhoven and Tyas Franssen proved to be the strongest. Their construction can carry twelve kilos. The bridges have a span of about one hundred and fifty centimeters and will be exhibited in the hall of Vertigo until 19 March. Bellefleur Kramer from the organization speaks of a successful event. “Everybody enjoyed getting started with Lego bricks. The idea also appealed to older students. Perhaps we will expand the contest in the future.”
