The Knights of the Kitchen Table (KOTKT) hold such a games night every third Wednesday of the month. Chairman Alwin Penterman of the Eindhoven student role-playing association explains that the nights are always attended well: “There are a lot of fun things to do and the atmosphere is always congenial.” The night is also intended for non-members who wish to sample the atmosphere of the association.
Board games will be presented that take as little as ten minutes, but some games last the whole evening. Familiar games include Carcassonne and Settlers of Catan. In addition, the association has games that are far less familiar, says Penterman, such as Race for the Galaxy, Caylus, Agricola and Railroad Tycoon.
KOTKT started seven years ago as a role-playing association; this year the board games were added. “It makes for a change and will probably also benefit the membership of the association”, Penterman thinks. At present the club has some seventy members.
The Knights come together in the Citadel, the association’s room in the Bunker. The night starts at 7 p.m., but visitors can come in from as early as 5 p.m. Just before 6.30 they have a communal meal of French fries. More information: tel. 040-2478505 and www.kotkt.nl (in Dutch)./. |
