‘Language and social ontology - The construction of social reality as an engineering problem’ is the title of the lecture to be presented by prof. John Searle, in Filmhuis De Zwarte Doos on Thursday 1 October. John Searle is professor of philosophy and cognitive science at U.C. Berkeley. Searle is well-known for his outspoken positions. He believes that computers cannot think or understand language, and that social reality can be constructed on the basis of a few basic building blocks.
The ECTS lecture, from 12.45 to 13.45 hours, is organized by Studium Generale in cooperation with the Eindhoven Center for Innovation Studies (ECIS). |
