When taken?
This picture was taken during the Glow 2009 Festival, which was held all around the city center of Eindhoven from 6 to 15 November. The show name is ‘Elements of Light’, from the German theatre group Un Poco Loco. The show included acrobatics, dance and fireworks.

What do we see?
You see a blurred portrait of a street performer. There were different street performers entertaining in the Markt in Eindhoven, like actors, dancers, stilt walkers and jugglers. It was a very spectacular and impressive event.

Why this picture?
To break the rules, one must know them. Typically the blur is the last thing a photographer wants. Here it gives a sense of movement. As the French photographer André Naggar said: "I photograph not the dancer but the dance, not a bird but its flight, not a horse but the race".
