When taken?
The picture was taken in July last year when I traveled to Vila Real in Portugal for spending my summer vacation.
What do we see?
The picture depicts the Rio Douro, one of the major rivers in the north of Portugal. This river, which rises in Spain and flows across the entire width of Portugal before joining the Atlantic Ocean, has been of great importance for doing business. Its full distance of 897 km was historically navigated mostly by light boats in order to transport barrels of Port wine to Porto.
Why taken?
The interesting historical background of the Rio Douro made me want to have a picture of that. You could also see beautiful vineyards on the steep banks of the river. (HB) |
