This week’s photographer: Hristina Moneva (30), who works for the Embedded Systems Institute (ESI).

When taken?
1st of March in my home in the Netherlands

What do we see?
You see Martenitsa, a small piece of adornment, made of white and red yarn. It is one of the most important Bulgarian traditions.

Why taken?
It is a tradition which sends off winter and welcomes spring. You wish everyone good health. We make a new Martenitsa every year, together with the whole family. It is nice to show this tradition to the Cursor readers. (HB)
