In September of this year, foreign students in Wageningen housed in a former hotel wanted to stop paying rent. Their accommodation was substandard and the rent was too high. In Eindhoven, Cursor also met with students who expressed their dissatisfaction with their current accommodation, the fact they have to sign a one-year housing contract, and the rent, which they think is excessive. At the Education and Student Service Center (STU) they are aware of the complaints and problems, but director Karen Ali stresses she can’t do the impossible. A little more effort from the city would be most welcome, for example. |
