(TJ) Minisymposium ‘Beyond the scientific paper’.

Woensdag 26 oktober, 10:00 – 13:00, Multimedia Paviljoen, zaal 3. Bijwonen is gratis.

Enhanced publications: more than an article

For those who want to do more with their research than merely provide a few sheets of plain text, the Information Expertise Center (IEC) will be organizing a mini symposium on enhanced publications on October 26. The symposium will be held in light of the global Open Access Week 2011 that runs from October 24 to November 4.

The English symposium is entitled ‘Beyond the Scientific Paper’. Today, publications are being upgraded with extra material ever more often, such as research data, extra images, or videos. Even after an article’s publication, information may be added online, including colleagues' responses and reactions from the researchers themselves. Adding data or models that were used provides fellow researchers with an opportunity to check results and elaborate on the study. This makes for a new way of publishing.
IEC’s mini symposium is meant to familiarize TU/e researchers with the various forms of enriched publications. Speakers from within as well as outside TU/e will be explaining the phenomenon from their own expertise. (TJ)

Mini symposium ‘beyond the Scientific Paper’. Wednesday, October 26 10.30AM-1PM, Multimedia Paviljoen, room 3. Free admission. Register by e-mailing Leon Osinski before October 18. For more information klick here.
