Glow lights up Eindhoven
13 november 2008 - No City of Light without a Festival of Light. Last week the third edition was started. If you have not seen all of it yet, you still have until Sunday. More than twenty light installations can be seen, a number of which have been made especially for this festival. The umbrella theme is ‘Connecting the forbidden city’ and refers to this year’s route: between the Effenaar and Strijp S.

There is a great deal to be seen in this edition of Glow. Of course there are spectacular, big projections, like the moving painting by Cécile Nordegg and Jonathan Berkh on top of the PSV stadium. A totally different aspect of light art may be seen at Strijp S. On the lawn the Swiss artists’ collective Öff Öff will perform ‘Orbit’ (every day at 20.30 hours). They carry out daredevil feats on, over and through a seventeen-meter-high illuminated installation. If the wind is too strong, there will be a replacement act, ‘Tubeland’, which takes place in the SBX building of Strijp-X. On 15 November that will also be the second act (at 22.30 hours).

Mischa Kuball designed the installation at and of the central station. Kuball, professor at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, uses the existing lighting and makes it pulsate, so that it looks as if the building is breathing.
