Where most programs at TU/e welcome all the (foreign) students they can get, the two-year User Systems Interaction (USI) post-doctorate engineering design program rejects about 80 out of every 100 applications. This year a group only 18 out of 115 got through the selection procedure. “We only want the best”, says program director dr.ir. Maddy Janse, who is also the Principle Scientist of Connected Consumer Solutions at Philips Research.
USIs keen on combination psychology and technology

Eva Kraaijenbrink from Zutphen says she has learnt a lot during the time she has been in the USI program. “Not only from the lecturers, but also from the other people in the group. We’re all from such different academic and cultural backgrounds and working with them provides an excellent opportunity to learn from their different perspectives.”

No City of Light without a Festival of Light. Last week the third edition was started. If you have not seen all of it yet, you still have until Sunday. More than twenty light installations can be seen, a number of which have been made especially for this festival. The umbrella theme is ‘Connecting the forbidden city’ and refers to this year’s route: between the Effenaar and Strijp S.
