29 januari 2009 - In order to celebrate that TH-berichten, which was later converted to Cursor, started fifty years ago, the Cursor of 5 February will feature a special about the history of the newspaper. On that same day an exhibition will be opened in the Hoofdgebouw of typical cartoons and illustrations from the newspaper.

‘A magazine that is intended to keep you abreast of whatever is in the offing in and around the ‘technische hogeschool’.’ It is with that intention that the weekly TH-berichten was started on 4 February 1959. During the first few years it is purely a newsletter. In the mid-1970s it is fleshed out with more journalistic contents and early in 1983 the position of TH-berichten is established officially when an editorial charter is drafted and an editorial board is set up.

When in September 1986 the TH is transformed into TU, TH-berichten changes into Cursor. On 4 February next it will be fifty years ago, then, that the newsletter from which Cursor evolved came rolling from the press for the first time, or, more likely, was taken out of the mimeograph.

Anyone who cares to celebrate this memorable fact with the editors will be more than welcome to join us in the Hoofdgebouw on Thursday 5 February, where the exhibition will be opened at 16.00 hours. And of course there will be drinks as well.
