Every year the Philips Symphony Orchestra is giving a family concert. This time the concert will feature a special guest: trumpeter Rik Mol. Mol is one of Europe’s greatest talents, as is evidenced by the prizes that this 22-year-old musician has gathered until now: Yamaha Trumpet Jazz Award, Princess Christina Contest and The European Trumpet Contest. In this concert Mol will demonstrate how beautifully jazz can harmonize with a large symphony orchestra, for as this is a family concert, it also wants to be very child-friendly. The program includes Frans Liszt’s ‘Mazeppa’, a musical story by conductor Jules van Hessen, as well as two overtures and a piece by Leopold Mozart, entitled ‘Concert for garden hoses and orchestra’. Sunday February 8, 12.00 hours in the Auditorium. Tickets are five euros, and it is free for children under fourteen. There is no presale and the hall will open at 11.00 hours.
