Workshop Voice training
Do you have a sore throat or a hoarse voice after giving a lecture or presentation? Would you like to improve your audibility in the lecture hall? In that case you might want to participate in the workshop Voice training. The workshop aims at improving the use of your voice in lectures, presentations and instructions, and at the prevention of a strained voice. During the workshop a teacher of speech therapy will give you information and a lot of exercises to work on. Your performance is recorded on camera. You will be given advice based on that recording. This course is also a part of the TU/e BKO training program. The workshop consists of two sessions that will take place on Monday, April 20th from 13.30 - 16.00 hours and on Monday, May 18th from 13.30 - 16.30 hours. In between you’re supposed to work on exercises.

Intreerede

Prof.dr. K.P.E. Gravemeijer houdt op vrijdag 20 maart zijn intreerede. Dit gebeurt vanaf 16.00 uur in de Blauwe zaal van het Auditorium. De titel van de rede luidt ‘Leren voor later’. Gravemeijer is werkzaam bij de Eindhoven School of Education (ESoE).

Promotie

Ir. F. Franchimon verdedigt op maandag 23 maart zijn proefschrift en stellingen tegen de bedenkingen van een commissie. Dit gebeurt vanaf 16.00 uur in de Blauwe zaal van het Auditorium. De titel van het proefschrift luidt ‘Health Building Services for the 21st Century’. Franchimon promoveert aan de faculteit Bouwkunde. De promotoren zijn prof.dr. J.E.M.H. van Bronswijk en prof.dr. D.G. Bouwhuis.

Master course
This semester the master course Microfluidics: Dynamics of Mixing is running again. Please subscribe to Studyweb in order to participate. Because of the high level of interactivity the number of students is limited to 25. The course deals with both the dynamics and fluid mechanics aspects of distributive mixing in detail and is of interest for students from Chemical, Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering as well as Physics and Mathematics.

Pasta en Passie, dinsdag 7 april
Elke maand houdt T!NT op de eerste dinsdag van de maand een avond met een aanstekelijke film over mensen die volledig voor hun passie gaan. Heb je een passie voor muziek en dans, voor Argentinië en Parijs, kom dan kijken naar: Tangos. El Exilo de Gardel van Fernando Solanas.
Een groep Argentijnse ballingen in Parijs heeft te kampen met heimwee, nostalgie, problemen van nationale identiteit en het aan elkaar knopen van de eindjes. Ze besluiten een tangoballetvoorstelling te creëren geïnspireerd door de herinnering aan en de muziek van Carlos Gardel, de legendarische Argentijnse tangoster.

Mosaic

Lezing interculturele communicatie
Op woensdag 25 maart spreekt drs. Jan Verhoeven van het bureau van Inter Etnisch Management over interculturele communicatie. Mosaic, de multiculturele studentenvereniging van de TU/e, organiseert deze lezing als onderdeel van een serie over interculturaliteit. De vorige bijeenkomst eind februari met drs. Cor Verhoeven ging over cultuurshock en cultuurverschillen. De lezing van 25 maart over interculturele communicatie vindt plaats van 15.30 tot 17.00 uur in Auditorium 14. Personeelsvereniging TU/e

Bezoek Moviepark
Op 28 april brengt de personeelsvereniging van de TU/e in het kader van de familiedag een bezoek aan Moviepark in Duitsland. Vertrek om 08.00 uur vanaf de TU/e-campus. Vertrek vanaf Moviepark: 18.00 uur.
De prijs per persoon is: PV leden: t/m 3 jaar: 10 euro; 4 t/m 17 jaar: 15 euro; vanaf 18 jaar: 30 euro.
Introducés: t/m 3 jaar: 17 euro; vanaf 4 jaar: 40 euro.

Automotive Engineering Symposium 2009
On Monday April 6th, students from IEEE Student Branch Eindhoven together with staff members from the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology organize a symposium on Automotive Engineering. The objective is to promote automotive research at the university and in the surrounding region, and to bring together the industry and academic society.
Some of the major topics are: hybride versus completely electrical propulsion systems and adaptations to the infrastructure needed for these solutions. For the lectures experts from both the industry and acadamic society have been commissioned. Also the latest technology will be shown to the public via demonstrations.
The 2009 IEEE Automotive Symposium will be of interest to those involved in many areas of work, for instance: Automotive, Electrical and Mechanical engineering, Traffic planning, Environmental policy, etc. and will be held in the Auditorium at the Eindhoven University of Technology.
