This week ‘s photographer: Emily Yang (29) from the United States of America, a Master student of Human Technology Interaction

When taken?
I took this picture last weekend, on November 8, 2009. After our exams this academic year, some friends and I went to several places in Italy.

What do we see?
In the picture we see Piazza San Marco in Venice, Italy. It is somewhat flooded. There are chairs and tables placed where there is still water. Birds are enjoying themselves on the railings. A seagull is admiring its reflection. Tourists are avoiding the water like the plague. Fortunately, later that day the water had disappeared.

Why this picture?
I like this one because it tells a story. It’s a sad reminder of Venice’s fate. The seagull makes it more interesting and adds a dash of humor.
