Dr. Carlijn Bouten, senior lecturer with Biomedical Engineering, is one of the seven members of the KNAW section The Young Academy that will assist chairwoman Femke Halsema of the political party Groen Links in interpreting scientific information. The purpose is to reduce the gap between MPs and science. Bouten had her first talk last week.
Organization Recruitment Days hardly hit by crisis

The number of companies that has registered for the coming Wervingsdagen (Recruitment Days) has hardly decreased, compared to previous editions. According to the organization of the career event it is clear that enterprises have become more cautious because of the recession.

Solmaz (28) traveled from Iran to follow her fiancé Mehdi ‘Pooya’ (28). For eight months they were many thousands of kilometers apart. Meanwhile they both work at the Biomedical Engineering Department, Pooya as a PhD student, Solmaz as an intern a few doors down the corridor.
