What’s happening: Fiesta del Sol
8 juli 2010 - Last year the festival was cancelled because there were not enough sponsors to be found. Fortunately this year the summery festival can go on and will even be expanded with 18 Septemberplein as a theater square. During Fiesta del Sol practically all musical styles will be represented, from salsa to jazz and from disco to blues.

From Friday night 9th through Sunday 11th July the inner city of Eindhoven will be the place to go to for loads of music, good food and a variety of street theater performances. In the exotic market there will be products for sale from all over the world. On Friday night the soul formation Motownhead will be the closing act in Markt square. On Saturday the evening program in Markt square will feature Salsabor: an energetic eighteen-member salsa-big band with musicians from Cuba, Argentine, Venezuela and the Netherlands.

A separate part of the festival is festo do samba on Sunday afternoon. During festo do samba more than two hundred samba musicians and dancers will come together. Joining forces, they will walk through the city center in a grand Brazilian musical parade, which will finish in Catharinaplein, which is to be converted into a samba square especially for that afternoon. In the samba square the musicians will jointly play samba music for thirty minutes while improvising. (HB)/.
