Possible adjustment market place W-hall through wind nuisance

An analysis conducted by the Unit Building Physics and Systems of the Department of Architecture, Building and Planning has shown that there is a high risk of wind nuisance on the south side of the new W-hall. This concerns the place where an opening had been planned in the façade to shield off the ‘market place’ adjoining the W-hall. The study has also come up with a solution.

The map is the result of a computational fluid dynamics simulation in which the whole campus is modeled and validated with a large number of measurements, which have been conducted mostly at night and during weekends by means of a mobile ultrasonic anemometer.

Last year the festival was cancelled because there were not enough sponsors to be found. Fortunately this year the summery festival can go on and will even be expanded with 18 Septemberplein as a theater square. During Fiesta del Sol practically all musical styles will be represented, from salsa to jazz and from disco to blues.
