Monday: After a long weekend of study, I continued my thesis research on temporary public spaces. In the afternoon I experienced the Dutch medical system when I visited the Catharina-ziekenhuis, for a serious stomach illness. As always on Monday evenings, a weekly shop was completed with my partner to prevent returning to Albert Heijn more than once a week!
Tuesday: I visited Amsterdam again for research of my thesis and class projects. I spent the day within the grounds of the old NDSM ship yard where I made observations of the area and interviewed the users of the artist/cultural centre which has been established there. The day was very misty, which added to the very surreal atmosphere which NDSM-Werf creates.
Wednesday: At 8am I went online, to watch Barack Obama’s victory speech as president-elect of the United States. After morning coffee I met with my tutor to discuss the progress of my research. In the afternoon I began the task of revising for the coming examination in techniques in urban modeling and planning, which proved much more extensive than expected!
Thursday: I began the day once again revising for my examination and the day proved to be very focused when I realized I had been in the ICTheek from 8.30am until 6pm without a single break.
Friday: Friday was a mix of study, research and socializing. During the working day I was in university once again working on my research and revision. In the evening I enjoyed a dinner with my friends and watched a band play in O’shea’s Irish pub until the small hours of the morning, after having consumed quite a number of pints of Guinness.
Saturday: After a long sleep in the morning, more revision and housework called! Whilst cleaning the apartment, I gave each task a subject from my revision to help visualize equations and information for my exam.
Sunday: Revision once again with stress mania! I took time out by going for a walk around Eindhoven, and had a few friends over for lunch. In the evening, I annoyed my partner with franticly reiterating equations and panic before the exam on Monday. |
