Law on delayed graduation passed by House of Representatives
April 26, 2011 – On Tuesday afternoon, a majority of the Dutch House of Representatives voted in favor of State Secretary Zijlstra’s measure on delayed graduation. As of September 2012, whoever needs at least one extra year to complete their studies will be paying nearly five thousand euro in tuition fees.
CDA, VVD, PVV and SGP voted in favor of the law. ChristenUnie also voted in favor after their amendment to include a hardship clause in the law was passed. That way, pregnant and sick students can appeal to their institutions’ funds. On top of that, students that are rejected by their own institutions’ funds, can lodge a complaint with the Board of Appeals. |
