How do Brazilians cope with the soccer craze? And what do South Koreans do to cheer on their team? Cursor takes the temperature of a few of our resident soccer fans.

The Eindhoven sportsmen and sportswomen have won the Great Dutch Student Championship (GNSK). The GNSK was held in Enschede on 3rd, 4th and 5th June. Nijmegen ended second in the overall ranking and Groningen third.

Tomorrow (Friday 11th June) will be the day: the start of the World Cup matches in South Africa. A great deal has already been written about it, and much more has been said. In this week’s What’s happening we are giving attention to it, though with a focus on Eindhoven. For where’s the best place to go and watch a match?

To be honest, the weather was more fitting to lounge on the beach or a terrace. Nevertheless a group of nine (former) students of TU/e, Fontys and the Design Academy put their shoulders to the wheel on Saturday 5th June during the volunteer odd-jobs day of T!NT. In collaboration with Stichting Present the students set to work cleaning and painting for people who are in a social assistance scheme.
