    The Netherlands attractive student country for women
    9 december 2010 - According to the publication Mobiliteit in beeld 2010 ‘Internationale mobiliteit in het Nederlandse hoger onderwijs’ (international mobility in Dutch higher education) by Nuffic, the Netherlands proves to be an attractive country for women to study. They constitute almost sixty percent of the foreign students in funded higher education. Altogether there are about 47,000 foreign students, two-thirds of whom are from EU countries. The total number of foreign students in the Netherlands is 76,750.

    Within Europe, Germany is the biggest supplier with 20,800 students, and outside it China with 3,700. Three quarters of all foreign students in the Netherlands follow a Bachelor program. In the Netherlands itself the scientific studies of Agriculture and the hbo (higher professional education) programs Language & Culture attract the highest percentages of students from abroad. All in all, the biggest group of foreign students comes to the Netherlands for an education in economics (17,500). The art academies have the strongest international color, boasting the highest percentages of foreign students. (HB)
