World Press Photo 2007
6 september 2007 - The winning photograph of the 2007 World Press Photo competition was taken on 15 August 2006, the day Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a cease-fire. Inhabitants of Beirut returned to the neighborhoods that had been severely damaged by Israeli bombardments. “This is a picture which you have to look at again and again. It is just as complicated and contradictory as life itself”, said the chairman of the World Press Photo jury of the picture taken by photographer Spencer Platt.
